The Spotlight is on Author @MorticiaKnight

It's good to be back here at The House of Taboo! I've been a little busy helping my alter ego Tammy Dennings Maggy with the Wicked After Dark Halloween Blog Hop and her book tour. Now she's all set to roll on out, and I'm back here ready to shine the Taboo Spotlight on a favorite here. Please help me welcome back the the Center Stage, author Morticia Knight!

It's great to have you here with us again, Morticia. Let's see if we can find out a little bit more about you. I know you listen to music while you write, but do feel different types of music help you with different scenes or genres?
Right now I’m listening to Mumford & Sons – lol. But I wouldn’t usually write to them – at least not yet. My last book was a historical, so I listened to a lot of classical and historical film soundtrack music. For contemporaries, I might listen to electronica or trance. I don’t usually do stuff with lyrics, because I tend to listen and sing along - just a tad distracting!

I feel the same at times, but if I don't have music or other background noise going on, my mind will wander and not stick to the job at hand. I know that's odd, but it's something Tammy and I both have to deal with. LOL! Tammy's hubby introduced us to Mumford & Sons. Here's one of our favorites...

Tell us about the different types of characters you like to write about? Why are these types so appealing to you?
I really prefer characters who are struggling with issues that are preventing them from getting to the happily-ever-after they crave. That could be because of their past, or the way they are viewed in the present. They need to overcome something, but most importantly, they believe that love is worth fighting for. Then there are the bad boys and girls – they’re just plain fun.

(the crowd erupts in cheers) Sounds like we have a few bad boys and girls out there who will agree with you on that, Morticia!

In what ways are your characters like you? In what ways are your characters not like you?
Definitely they are like me in believing in a deep true love that lasts. They are not like me because many of them get way more action than I do - at least until they settle down with that one (or two, or three) true love *wink*(more whistles and cheers)

Now you're talking my kind of kink—I mean language. ;) You start talking about two or more lovers and I'm all over that! Am I right, folks? The more taboo the better! (the audience is now on their feet, cheering. A couple hunks in the front keep motioning. Looks like they want to see about hooking up.) Awww...settle down now, my lovelies. There will be plenty of time for the kinky business AFTER the interview. Now let's find out a bit more about Ms. Knight. What are your favorite fiction genres to read from?
Romance of course! Although, even though I’ve never delved into this genre as a writer, I’m possessed by Regency and Highlander romance – I’ll read anything that has a picture of a muscle-bound dude in a kilt on the cover. Go figure.

Sounds marvelous to me. Give me that Highlander in a kilt AND tattoos and I'll be done for sure! Who else would be with me on that one? (at least 2/3 of the crowd raises their hands. Morticia and I raise both of ours and start waving them in the air!)

What are your favorite non-fiction genres to read from?
I absolutely love bare-it-all confessional memoir. Maybe that’s why erotic romance appeals to me – there’s no holding back there either!

What kinds of stories are your comfort reads when you are sick or feeling low?
Now that’s when I really need that man in a kilt – he’s just as good as chicken soup. ;-)

Now how about you tell us more about your new book?
In one or two sentences, give the core premise behind your story.
Two men and one ex-girlfriend. Can a lovelorn and kinky ghost help these three paranormal investigators find true love with each other?

Who is the heroine?
Sophie, a gifted medium who is alone since she caught her ex-boyfriend Martin with their friend and partner, Emilio.

What is she running away from (literally or figuratively)?
Her feelings. She’s rightfully angry that Martin cheated on her, but she’s never dealt with them – she just ran away (literally).

What about her will make readers sympathetic to her?
I think we've all been in a situation where someone didn't do right by us – even if it wasn't as far as cheating. It can be difficult to know when to let go of pride, and when to stand our ground. Is that person worth our forgiveness? Did we react too hastily? I think these are common struggles we all go through.

Tell us more about your coming works.
Book One in the Uniform Encounters series will be available for pre-order at Total-E-Bound in February, 2013. It’s an M/M series, and the first one is entitled “Set Ablaze”, about an older hunky fire chief just out of the closet, and a younger firefighter who is pining for him. The following books will have other yummy men in uniform trying to get together for happily-ever-afters.

Do you have a question you’d like to ask the readers to generate comments?
Do you believe in ghosts, and if so, why?

Ooooooo...you know my answer to that question! How about the rest of you let Morticia know how you feel. Do you believe that ghosts exist?

Now for a bit more fun. Turn your eyes to the stage to my right. We've set up a special treat for you and for Morticia. I've asked a special guest to read an excerpt from A Spirit of Love for us tonight. Put you hands together and welcome the one, the only, Ms. Jenna Jameson!

Adult Excerpt

Sophie was trying to figure out the sex toy that she held tentatively in her hands. It was called a Rabbit Habit, and more than one close friend had told her it was a must-have lonely girl accessory. It looked like it might possibly be a little purple alien with lots of bumps, and she was reading the ‘suggested uses’ pamphlet and trying the different settings. This was not making her feel sexy at all. It was more reminiscent of trying to figure out one of Emilio’s crazy new ghost-hunting gadgets.

Great. Thinking about my ex’s new lover is not going to help me get turned on.

Truth be told, she wasn’t mad at Emilio over what had happened the year before. There was something so child-like and innocent about him, it was impossible to get mad at him. So far, she had been doing a wonderful job of channeling all of her rage at Martin. Logically, she knew that it took two to tango, as the saying went, but she had always looked at Emilio as the playful sprite and Martin as the sensible businessman. She wasn’t sure where she used to fit in, but she was quite sure that she didn’t fit in at all anymore.

After she’d caught the two of them—Martin with his dick in Emilio’s mouth, no less—Martin had tried to stop her from leaving. She had been frantically throwing things into random tote bags, while he’d kept trying to tell her something crazy that involved the three of them. She hadn’t let him finish a sentence. She wasn’t going to be one of those partners that let her lover have someone on the side every time her back was turned. A little part of her didn’t think that was what Martin had meant, but she had been way too angry to listen to any wacky ideas. He had betrayed her trust, and that was the end of it. Nothing more to discuss.

Since getting involved in any more relationships had fallen off of her to-do list until further notice, she had hinted to a couple of her friends whom she hung out with at her favourite local metaphysical shop that she could use a girl’s sex aid. They had both recommended the Rabbit vibrator in general, and had said the Habit was decently priced and definitely did the trick. The insertable part was big and could rotate at different speeds inside, theoretically stimulating the G-spot. She wasn’t sure if she’d ever had her G-spot stimulated, but it sounded like it would be a good thing. The rabbit part protruding from the dildo tickled your clit, and the rotating beads inside the thing were also there for extra labial stimulation.

Hiking up her little pink sundress, Sophie pulled her floral bikini panties down then kicked them off. Suddenly feeling silly with all the lights blazing, she went around and shut everything off, except for one small tulip-shaped lamp on her small writing desk. She lay back on the love-seat, the main seating area in her studio apartment, and opened her legs. She turned the instrument on and was poising it near her entrance when she realized that she didn’t feel the slightest bit aroused. She was as dry as the desert, and it would not be pleasant to stuff this pliable gel-like thing in her pussy that way.

Oooooo...if that doesn't have your mouth watering, then I don't know what will. Now go on and click on one of the links below to get your very own copy of this novella. Go on now. I already have mine!

Happy reading!
~Lia
