Welcome to The House of Taboo for Wild and Wicked Wednesday. I'm the Luscious Lia Michaels, your host and owner of these shindigs. This week I'm happy to welcome back friend and fellow author Jess Buffett. She's had one heck of a couple months with the release of a few books so it's an extra treat she's able to squeeze us into her busy schedule and share her new one with us. So grab your seats and your Margarita from Tony at the bar and let's get this show on the road!
Let me first say a big thank you to my
host, and Happy Hump Day to all of you. (the crowd cheers wildly)
Need a little pick me up? Well, let me
introduce you to something wild and wicked in the form of one of my characters.
When I hear wild and wicked, my mind
automatically goes to Dmitri Kalas, my character from Dmitri’s Little Spitfire
[Hunter Clan 3].
Standing at 6”6, with long brown hair and
piercing violet eyes, Dmitri dominates any room he stands in. Known for his
self-control, his violet eyes belie the wild and untamed Wolf that lies
beneath.
He is the second-in-command of the Hunter
Clan—strong, capable and loyal, Dmitri has a soft side for those in need. As
the Yabyu, many things are expected of him, however when he finally meets his
mate, Dmitri finds the one area he lacks in is the very thing his mate needs.
So, now that you know a little about one of
the main characters from my upcoming release, let give you a sneak peek at
what’s to come.
Blurb
Elijah Collins is ashamed. Used to hurt his friends
by Potestas, he now finds it hard to even look someone in the face. Especially
Dmitri, his mate. When a truth about Elijah is discovered, Potestas also find
out. Now that they know his true worth, he becomes an even bigger target than
before.
Dimitri Kalas has always prided himself on being
calm and in control. It is his job to help protect his Clan, and most
importantly his mate. But when he finds out that the people responsible for
hurting the Kayan’s mate have also been abusing his mate, he becomes incensed.
Will Dimitri be able to convince his mate that he is worth love and forgiveness? Or will Elijah allow his guilt to consume him and turn himself over to the enemy in order to keep his friends safe?
Adult Excerpt
Swimming to the surface of consciousness, Elijah cringed at the throbbing in his skull, making things worse. A whimper slipped past his lips as the throbbing turned into pinpricks along the back of his head. That couldn’t be good.
“Shhh, now. It’s okay, I’ve got you,” a deep voice whispered.
Dmitri.
Elijah groaned. Dmitri must have found him. Oh, shit. That was not a way to impress. Not that he wanted to impress. He groaned again. He really needed to stop thinking before something slipped out.
“God, I want you.”
Ah, fuck. Something like that.
The warmth breath from Dmitri’s chuckle caressed the side of his face. “Well, the feeling is mutual, little one.”
Elijah frowned. He hated it when people pointed out how small he was.
“Don’t call me little one. I may be on the small side, but not where it counts,” he snarked, his eyes shooting open when he realised what had slipped out.
Where the hell was his bloody filter, for christ sakes!
On the upside Dmitri didn’t seem to be upset with his remark. The Wolf’s eyes were hooded, and a look of lust burned in them. Dmitri looked like he would be more than happy to find out. Uh-oh.
“No, you’re more of a little spitfire underneath, aren’t you?” Dmitri asked, cocking his head to the side in a very wolf-like move.
He had no idea what to say to that.
Trying to sit up, he failed, noting that the lower half of his body was wedged between the mattress and Dmitri’s large frame.
“Um, can I sit up?” he asked nervously.
A smile tugged at the edges of the Wolf’s lips, but he acquiesced, lifting his body off of Elijah’s. Elijah took a deep breath and pushed himself up into a sitting position only to fall back when his head began to spin.
“Whoa.”
“Hey, you okay, honey?”
Elijah tried to hide how much he liked hearing the endearment. “Head hurts.”
“Mhmm, want to tell me how that happened?” Dmitri inquired, looking his injury over.
No, he really didn’t, but thanks for asking.
“Argh. It was stupid. I fell back and hit my head on the tub and then did it again when I tried to get back up,” he mumbled. “Nothing untoward, just clumsy.”
Remembering why he fell back, Elijah barely repressed a shudder, but something must have given him away because he felt Dmitri stiffen, his eyes narrowing.
“Want to tell me why you’re scared. I smelt fear before, and now.”
“Falling backward like that can scare a person, ya know,” he retorted. Elijah wanted Dmitri to stop asking questions because he had a very strong feeling that he wouldn’t be able to lie to the man.
“Maybe, but not that much, and it certainly doesn’t leave them almost terrified afterwards,” Dmitri said, arching an eyebrow. “Unless you’re telling me you now suffer from an acute fear of the bathroom. Perhaps I should ask Riley if there is a phobia for that.”
“Oh, hell. If anyone knows it would be him,” Elijah snorted. His friend was certifiable and ridiculously smart at the same time. It made for a scary combination.
“He is one of a kind.” Dmitri’s fond grin didn’t please him.
“Yeah, well, he’s taken,” he muttered.
The wolf’s grin turned more... well, wolfish as he eyed Elijah up and down. “Oh, I know. Besides I prefer a different type of fire.”
Huh?
His confusion must have showed on his face as Dmitri brought a hand up and ran his fingers through Elijah’s copper strands.
Then the light bulb flicked on. “You like my hair?”
“Mhmm. Goes nicely with the little spitfire I see in your eyes.”
Yeah riiight.
“My eyes just make me look like the freak I am,” he said, frowning at the wolf. He didn’t need Dmitri lying to him.
Dmitri narrowed his eyes on him for a moment and Elijah thought he had pissed the man off. Opening his mouth to apologize, Elijah froze as the larger man lowered his head, and he couldn’t make himself protest as their lips met. The hand in his hair tightened, making Elijah gasp and allowing Dmitri to plunge his tongue into the deep cavern of his mouth. Elijah moan at the sensation, feeling like his mate was consuming him.
His mate.
Oh crap, his mate.
Why was it that he could suddenly identify this man as his mate?
Elijah lost all thought when Dmitri’s other hand trailed lower and cupped his heavy erection underneath the thin sheet.
Oh, who the fuck cares!
He found himself arching into the caress and opening up more for his mate. Dmitri growled in what Elijah assumed was approval, pressing their bodies together. Elijah wrapped his arms around Dmitri’s neck, spreading his legs as his mate ripped away the sheet covering him. The cool air on his cock was like a balm on his overheated flesh.
Elijah cried out and bucked his hips when Dmitri grasped him in his firm hand, the tip of his thumb dipping into the tiny slit at the top. His mate kept up the slow and steady pumps of his fist, driving Elijah higher and higher. “Ah. Fuck, yeah.”
Dmitri chuckled. “Such a mouth from someone who looks so sweet.”
“Fuck sweet. Oh, yeah. That feels goood,” he moaned.
Lips crushed to his again as the intensity heightened. Elijah dug his nails in Dmitri’s skin as he thrust his hips, desperate for more. He could feel his balls draw up close and he squeezed his eyes shut, wanting to hold on for as long as possible. He knew he didn’t stand a chance when Dmitri tore his mouth from Elijah’s and dipped his head, taking one of his pink, beaded discs between his teeth and biting hard.
“Come for me, mate,” his mate growled.
